Teen leaves 500m-long blood trail in Toa Payoh knife attack – AsiaOne (1 May 2021)
TLDR version: A 15-year-old got into an argument with other boys aged between 15 to 20, who then slashed him with a knife.
The attackers were charged with the offence of rioting with a deadly weapon.
More thoughts: This is reminiscent of a notorious case in 2010 involving a gang fight at Downtown East, when 19-year-old Darren Ng was stabbed to death.
12 youths were charged in that case – 7 of them for rioting and 5 (who were the main attackers) for murder (subsequently reduced to the lesser charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder).
The heaviest sentence meted out was to 18-year-old gang leader Stilwill Ong, who received 12 years’ imprisonment and 12 strokes of the cane.
